DISORIENT

The obstruction, manipulation and population of surface to connect, dis-illusion and inhabit.

DisOrient is a light installation exploring repetitive hexagonal patterns to create a source of light and sense of place. Pods connect at their edges to create a singular object. LED lights illuminate the center of the pods, diffused by the mylar screens within. The multiplicity hexagonal pods blurs the perception of the observer, allowing the light to read as a singular object from afar, yet intricate and individual up close.

Installed in a roof to wall condition, DisOrient begins to remove the delineation of ‘roof ’ and ‘wall’ in its overlapping repetition.

DisOrient revisited: Removed the mylar damaged in storage as well as some of the pods, painted the underside blue, and mounted it to poster board.
